World Prematurity Day
November 2017

World Prematurity Day is observed on 17 November each year to raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families.
Worldwide, 15 million babies are born preterm and more than a million die as a result. Babies who survive often have lifelong health problems such as cerebral palsy, vision and hearing loss, and intellectual disabilities.

In this occasion Bellevue Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit invited families of premature babies born at BMC to celebrate with them and to honor NICU nurses and physicians for the great efforts they provide to save premature babies.
